Jasper is a given name that is derived from the Persian name “Yashpere,” meaning “treasurer.”  The formation of jasper occurs when silica-rich sediment or volcanic ash is subjected to high pressure and heat over an extended period. This process results in the deposition of microscopic quartz crystals, which contribute to the stone’s hardness and durability.  Apple jasper beads are an array of the red of St. Michaels cape to various peaches, grays, and browns.
